What the tradition attaches to each number — and, just as important, what it does not claim.

One

Associated with
Beginnings, a single direction, one person deciding. In most tellings 1 is associated with starting something rather than continuing it.
Read for a company name as
Read as a name that sounds like it belongs to one founder rather than a partnership — short, direct, not descriptive.
What it does not mean
It does not mean the business will lead its market, and it says nothing about whether one founder is the right structure.

Two

Associated with
Pairs, balance, arrangement between sides. Traditionally read as the number of agreement rather than initiative.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting partnerships, agencies and anything where two parties are brought together — brokers, matchmaking, intermediaries.
What it does not mean
It does not predict that partners will agree, and it is not a weaker number than 1.

Three

Associated with
Expression, variety, being noticed. Associated with communication more than with construction.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting names meant to be said out loud a lot — retail, media, food, anything customer-facing.
What it does not mean
It does not make a name memorable. That is a matter of the sound and the letters, which you can judge without any of this.

Four

Associated with
Structure, method, things that stay put. The square, the foundation, the ledger.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting construction, manufacturing, logistics and professional services — work where the same thing is done reliably many times.
What it does not mean
It does not mean slow growth, and in Chaldean practice 4 carries a reputation for difficulty that not every practitioner accepts.

Associated with
Movement, change, trade. Traditionally the most commercial of the nine, associated with exchange and travel.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting trading companies, travel, import and export, and anything that changes shape often.
What it does not mean
A widely liked number in business readings — which is a fact about the readings, not about turnover.

Associated with
Care, service, appearance. Associated with looking after people and with things that are meant to be beautiful.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting hospitality, health, beauty, education and family firms — work where the customer is looked after rather than supplied.
What it does not mean
It does not mean customers will be loyal, and it does not make a business a good employer.

Seven

Associated with
Study, analysis, distance. Associated with knowing rather than selling.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting research, consulting, software and specialist practices — work bought for expertise rather than for price.
What it does not mean
Often called unsuited to retail in business readings. Treat that as a convention of the tradition, not as advice about your shop.

Eight

Associated with
Scale, authority, money and its machinery. In Chaldean practice 8 is read carefully and rarely casually — it is the number practitioners most often argue about.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting finance, real estate, heavy industry and anything that grows by accumulating.
What it does not mean
It does not mean wealth, and it is not a number to avoid. Both claims are common online and neither follows from the arithmetic.

Nine

Associated with
Completion, reach, the wider public. The last of the single digits, so it is read as the end of a cycle.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting organisations that serve many people at once — publishing, charities, healthcare, large service networks.
What it does not mean
⭐ Note the mechanism: no letter is worth 9 in the Chaldean table, so a Chaldean 9 only ever arrives as a total. In Pythagorean it comes from I and R directly.

Eleven — master number

Associated with
Read as a heightened 2: the same pairing and arrangement, but not reduced. Master numbers are left standing rather than folded down.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting work with an idea or a message at its centre rather than a product — teaching, design, advocacy.
What it does not mean
Not everyone keeps master numbers at all. A practitioner who reduces will read this name as 2, and neither of you is doing the arithmetic wrong.

Twenty-two — master number

Associated with
Read as a heightened 4: structure at a larger scale. Sometimes called the builder in the tradition.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting infrastructure, large projects and institutions meant to outlast their founders.
What it does not mean
It does not mean the project will be large. It means the total came to 22 and was not reduced to 4.

Thirty-three — master number

Associated with
Read as a heightened 6: service at a larger scale. The rarest of the three, because few name totals land on it.
Read for a company name as
Read as suiting healthcare, education and organisations built around looking after people in numbers.
What it does not mean
Rare is not the same as strong. It is rare because 33 is a narrow target for a sum of letters to hit, and nothing more.

⚠️ None of these numbers is ranked above another anywhere on this site, and none of them predicts revenue, growth or luck. Where a number has a reputation in the tradition — 5 for trade, 8 for argument among practitioners — that is described as a convention, because that is what it is.
